There are few artists at 19 years of age, who are as assured, confident, and commanding in the country music scene as Mackay’s Bella Mackenzie. Growing up in the small Queensland coal mining town of Moranbah, she was inspired by artists like Kaylee Bell and Lee Kernaghan. A live concert at the age of 12 cemented her desire to become an artist, and she began writing her own music soon after.
Releasing her first original song in 2020, it didn’t take long for Bella to prove she was also a dynamic and entertaining performer. She honed her craft of playing live in pubs and bars across Australia, backing up her immersive and emotive compositions with stellar energetic live sets.
By 2021, it was evident she had hit upon something special with her music. With accolades such as being named the inaugural winner of the Groundwater CMF KIX-Start competition, and early performances at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, North Queensland Rock’n Country, and Rockhampton River Festival, Bella was fast cementing herself as one to watch. Most recently she was invited to support James Johnston and Zac & George.
With her next single releases like ‘Ain’t For You’, ‘Make Me Wanna Love’, ‘Miss You No More’, and ‘1, 2, 3 You & Me’ garnering over 100,000 streams on Spotify alone, Bella’s authentic sound and singular songwriting style soon found fans with names like Adam Brand and Guy Sebastian, amongst a nascent generation of country fans.
